Position Summary

The DCPP Engineering Department is seeking a talented and motivated summer intern to support the development of innovative software tools, dashboards, websites, and processes aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing waste. Through active participation in key initiatives, the intern will contribute to improving workflows and driving operational excellence across the department.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $22.77 to $36.42.

 

Responsibilities

Design and develop Power BI dashboards and web-based tools, integrating data from various sources. Analyze and map current workflows to identify and implement process improvements. Create and execute program effectiveness plans to evaluate and enhance performance. Collaborate with the DCPP Cybersecurity team to optimize configuration management control processes.

 

The successful candidate will have the chance to lead and/or support the activities outlined above, working closely with a team of experienced engineers. This internship will offer exposure to multiple groups within the DCPP Engineering department, providing valuable insights into the broader engineering landscape.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field at an accredited university. Continuing education toward the degree during and/or after the internship. Ability to pass a background check for work at a Nuclear Facility.

Desired:

3.0 GPA or higher in both cumulative and major-specific coursework. Engineering experience within utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consulting. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and support team members. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Experience in industrial environments. Proficiency in Microsoft tools, including Word, Excel, Power BI, and related software. Familiarity with network and industrial protocols such as TCP/IP, ControlNet, Ethernet, and Modbus. Knowledge of industrial and regulatory cybersecurity requirements. Hands-on experience with network components (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto), industrial PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley, Tricon), and Server environments (e.g., Windows, Linux). Capable of prioritizing tasks, planning effectively, and proposing solutions.
