Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our DCT Health Information Management Services (HIMS) Leadership Team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a DCT HIMS Assistant Director! This position will be a part of a larger DCT HIMS leadership team that collectively works together to oversee DCT’s health information systems to ensure compliance, efficiency, and the safeguarding of patient data and is a custodian of the legal record for DCT. This position works across DCT and in partnership with DCT Executive Leaders, Forensic Services, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services (MHSATS), Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP), Ambulatory Services, Community Based Services (CBS), counties, system vendors, and MNIT to improve planning and analytics to achieve desired outcomes. This position will directly supervise and manage HIM responsibilities of the Forensic HIMS staff and the Commitment Coordination Team, working closely with DCT staff and counties.
Primary responsibilities include:
+ Provide direction and oversight to all DCT HIMS staff.
+ Provide leadership in the implementation, integration, and ongoing evolution and adoption of information systems while ensuring the integrity of the medical record.
+ Manage staff providing leadership and direction for those individuals directly supervised, for others within the DCT HIMS department, and others who have HIM responsibilities within DCT.
+ Oversee the development and promote acceptance of and use of technology that supports the delivery of person-centered services and efficient user of resources.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Demonstrated leadership experience: Leadership experience can include:
+ Experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead;
+ Completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g., ELI, L4);
+ A paid/unpaid position leading a program or chairing a committee (e.g., Employee Resource Group) - experience must include:
+ 1+ year of experience identifying issues, goals, and strategic actions.
+ 100+ hours per year time commitment
AND
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
AND
Four (4) years of HIMS or EHR experience in a healthcare setting, which may include record management, coding, EHR system administration, and/or health information management. Experience must include the following:
+ Experience planning for and managing change processes, as well as identifying opportunities for development and process improvement.
+ Experience working with data analytics and qualitative analysis.
+ Experience communicating complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 3+ years of experience in a supervisor or managerial role.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS)
+ Experience with current state and federal law, rules, regulations and procedures, and accreditation and licensing requirements relative to record and health information management, court orders, data privacy and access, and release of information.
