Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) Teacher
Amergis Staffing is hiring for a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) for the current school year. The DHH teacher teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regular curriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population. What We Offer: + Monday-Friday schedule (between the hours of 7:30am-4pm) + Competitive Pay Rate: Up to $48/hr + Benefits - medical, dental & vision and Weekly pay! Minimum Requirements: + Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university + Valid CA Teaching License + Valid Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certificate + Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing + Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students + ASL proficiency exam or Certification required + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Develops and implements lesson plans + Utilizes the use of technical and specialized equipment for students with hearing loss + Prepares lessons that accommodate learning styles + Communicates by way of sign/spoken language as appropriate + Assists in the selection of instructional materials and equipment + Provides training to students or staff to facilitate the child’s learning, inclusion and independence + Assesses student learning styles and uses results to plan educational activities + Conducts assessments of student progress and achievement using testing methodology + Compiles reports, records, and documents as required + Participates in IEP meetings with parents, teachers, students, and other School District staff + Follow School District policies and procedures .
