The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School. The Dean is administratively responsible to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for the successful development of academic policy and the maintenance of academic quality. The person in the role will recruit and hire faculty members, especially at the senior level. They will coordinate curriculum development as well as develop the college budget. They will work in collaboration with our advancement team to foster and maintain relationships with alumni and donors as well as engaging with faculty committees, School Leadership, Department Chairs, the Academic Affairs Leadership Team, University leadership, and industry/community partners to advance the Strategic Plan of the University and the Division. The Dean serves as the intellectual leader of the School, fostering a sense of community across departments and an environment in which educational, research, scholarship, creative activity, and public engagement can flourish. The Dean is responsible for maintaining the quality and stewardship of academic programs; managing the School’s human and fiscal resources; creating a positive work and learning environment that supports a culture of equity, inclusion, and kindness; and representing the School to external constituencies and audiences. Working in collaboration with other Deans and senior administrators, the Dean of the School of Business and Management supports and promotes the mission, vision and values of the University. The School is organized into the following departments; Accounting Economics and Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration and the Small Business Development Center. Minimum Qualifications: Either o A master’s degree accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university at the time of appointment within a discipline appropriate to the School of Business and Management and a minimum of 10 years’ leadership experience in a for-profit or non-profit business environment. OR o A terminal degree accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university at the time of appointment in a business-related discipline and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a for-profit or non-profit business environment. + Proven supervisory experience with demonstrated expertise in personnel management. + Demonstrated ability to work across a wide range of academic disciplines and the ability to serve as an advocate for all the programs represented in the School of Business and Management. + Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and make resource allocation decisions that support and promote the competing needs of units within the School. + Experience building partnerships with alumni, community leaders, and other engaged constituencies. + Demonstrated project planning and management, time management, and priority setting skills. + Ability to work successfully in a high stress environment, handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and a history of on-time delivery of projects; project coordination; and anticipation of issues. + Knowledge of and experience with assessment and continuous improvement of academic programs. + Commitment to shared governance and collaboration across disciplines. + A commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Preferred Qualifications: + A distinguished record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, appropriate for appointment at the academic rank of full professor. + A successful record of academic administrative leadership as a Department Chairperson, Program Director, Associate Dean or Dean for a minimum of three years. + Experience working with external accreditations. + A history and awareness of the unique needs of students and faculty in support of online programs. + Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, with demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people. Must have the ability to work as a team member, foster a cooperative work environment, and maintain effective relationships. + Experience working in a collective bargaining environment. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-4pm Salary and Benefits: The minimum salary for this position is $176,308. This position is benefits eligible; Find out more about benefits at Careers@Brockport!
