Key Responsibilities:
Inspire Student Engagement & Leadership Development
+ Shape and lead cutting-edge virtual student engagement initiatives that connect learners pursuing associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees across the globe.
+ Oversee and support student affairs teams responsible for leadership development, digital student communities, and networking opportunities.
+ Champion a deliberative dialogue and civil discourse culture, ensuring students gain real-world leadership skills to thrive in diverse settings.
Lead Career & Experiential Learning for a Digital-First World
+ Set the vision and strategy for career development and experiential learning, ensuring alignment with the university's broader academic mission and workforce readiness goals.
+ Establish high-level partnerships with faculty, academic leaders, external stakeholders, and 100,000+ alumni to integrate experiential learning opportunities that align with industry demands and student career pathways.
+ Oversee initiatives that position career development as a core component of the student experience, driving institutional strategies that support career readiness, workforce alignment, and lifelong employability.
Champion Holistic Health & Wellness in a Digital Campus
+ Oversee comprehensive virtual wellness initiatives that prioritize mental health, resilience, and work-life balance.
+ Ensure students have access to remote wellness resources, telehealth services, and self-care strategies tailored to their unique needs.
+ Advocate for institutional policies that support holistic student success in online and hybrid environments.
Drive Inclusion, Community Building & Digital Belonging
+ Lead efforts to create an inclusive, engaging digital campus culture where students feel connected and supported.
+ Oversee initiatives that foster belonging, celebrate diversity, and develop meaningful student connections across online platforms.
+ Partner with academic and student success leaders to ensure university-wide collaboration in student engagement and inclusion.
Revolutionize Student Advocacy & Support
+ Partner with senior leadership to design and implement student advocacy models that remove barriers to success for online learners.
+ Oversee targeted strategic initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness in alignment with university priorities.
+ Implement proactive, data-driven student success models within units of supervision that ensure every learner-regardless of location-receives equitable access and service.
Policy Leadership for Community Standards & Conflict Resolution
+ Ensure equitable and transparent student conduct policies in a digital learning environment.
+ Lead the development of virtual conflict resolution initiatives that prioritize fairness, accountability, and student success.
+ Serve as a key leader in crisis management and student well-being strategy, ensuring a proactive, student-centered approach.
Strategic Leadership & Innovation in Student Affairs
+ Serve as a key advisor to the Associate Provost of Student Success, shaping the future of online student affairs.
+ Align student affairs policies and programs with the university's digital-first strategic plan and enrollment growth objectives.
+ Use data, technology, and emerging trends to drive student engagement, retention, and success in a remote learning environment.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, leadership development, or a related field.
+ A minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs, online learning, career services, or leadership development.
+ Proven ability to innovate and lead student affairs in a digital university environment.
+ Demonstrated success and depth in two or more key areas of student development, such as student leadership and governance, student activities, and student affairs programs-primarily career development, health and wellness services, or innovative digital engagement strategies.
+ Ability to leverage technology and data analytics to drive strategic student success initiatives.
+ Demonstrated experience as an engaging student affairs spokesperson and facilitator with both small and large groups.
+ Experience in managing budgets.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Doctorate degree.
+ Experience working with adult learners.
+ Experience working with large populations of transfer students.
+ Expertise in policy formation and implementation.
+ Demonstrated success in creating high-impact, inclusive digital programs that foster student engagement and retention.
+ Experience supervising remote staff.
+ Experience in managing budgets with student-run organizations.
+ Prior knowledge of and experience working with bilingual and emergent bilingual learners, particularly in online settings.
+ Prior experience working effectively with faculty, staff, and student from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Special Information:
+ Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.
+ Office hours will vary to accommodate student needs.
+ Some evening and/or weekend engagement with students is required.
+ Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
+ SUNY Empire provides employees with robust remote and flexible work options to meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff in a dispersed work environment. University locations that may be considered include Saratoga Springs, Rochester, and Selden, NY.
Additional Information:
Rank/Salary: This is a Management/Confidential position. Salary range $105,000 - $110,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
