Defense - Industrial Engineer
Overview Spirit AeroSystems designs and builds aerostructures for both commercial and defense customers. Responsibilities Location: Wichita, KS (Onsite) Key Accountabilities: Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel and optimization of product flow May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. Based on these studies, develops and implements optimized product flow May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities Develops and provides time standards to the shop floor as well as standard work for operations and processes Utilizes analytical skills for capacity analysis, tool and equipment utilization as well as line balancing Performs trend analysis of shop performance measures to identify opportunities for improve Qualifications Required Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program 2-5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 1-4+ years of related experience with a Master's Degree Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance Successful candidates must be able to secure Program Access approval Preferred Qualifications: Active DoD Security Clearance Experience in an Aircraft or Aerospace Manufacturing environment Knowledge of IE Tools used in production (i.e. capacity analysis, facility layout, and production improvements) Understanding of a manufacturing production atmosphere Experience utilizing production metrics to make informed decisions and drive results Experience using problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to develop innovative and expedient solutions to fabrication problems Experience working in a team environment and interacting with multiple disciplines and levels of management Spirit AeroSystems is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected factor under federal, state or local law.
