Defense Publications SME (XML/S1000D)

KBR's Government Solutions- Defense Systems Engineering, Naval Solutions division is hiring a Defense Publications SME (XML/S1000D) for an interactive technical manual viewer software development project.  This SME will play a crucial role in ensuring that the software meets the specific requirements and standards of the S1000D specification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring that the software aligns with S1000D standards and meets the needs of end-users.Technical Guidance: Provide expert advice on S1000D coding strategies, program requirements, and best practices. This helps the development team understand and implement the necessary technical specifications.Documentation and Standards Compliance: Ensure that all documentation produced by the software adheres to S1000D standards. This includes creating and reviewing technical manuals, data modules, and other related documents.Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to other team members, helping them understand S1000D standards and how to apply them effectively in their work.Validation and Testing: Assist in validating the software against S1000D requirements, creating test cases, and ensuring that the final product meets all necessary standards and specifications. Strategic Planning: Develop strategic plans for implementing and sustaining S1000D within the organization, ensuring long-term compliance and efficiency.

By integrating their deep knowledge of S1000D, help ensure that the software development process is aligned with industry standards, ultimately leading to a more robust and compliant product.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen. Active DOD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain.

Education & Years of Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience can be substituted for education.

Experience/Technical Skills:  

S1000D Familiarity: Deep understanding of the S1000D specification, including data modules (DM), issue management, and lifecycle processes. XML Proficiency: Knowledge of XML and the S1000D XML schema, enabling effective management and organization of technical data modules. Front-End Development: Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for user interface design and development. API Design: Familiarity with API design and usage for effective data exchange between systems.

Compensation: $123,000-184,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
