Pay
$6,410 - $7,780 Monthly

Job DescriptionWe have multiple openings for graduate level students and for students who received a bachelor’s or master’s degree to engage in practical research to further their educational goals. You will have the chance to support engineering projects involving research, conceptual design, analysis, or technology development. If you are energetic and enthusiastic with knowledge and interest in at least one of these skill areas: mechanical, electrical, systems, materials, manufacturing, or test engineering this internship could be a good match for you. These positions are in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) supporting the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Principal Directorate.
In this role you will
Work directly with a mentor in your field of study while finding solutions to real world problems.Under limited direction and supervision will conduct research in assigned area.Perform technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity and provide advanced technical support to engineers in research and development projects.Document and communicate results of technical data generated.Share engineering information and promoting open dialogue.Attend relevant seminars.Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or has completed their bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or a related field.A track record of outstanding academic performance.Experience applying advanced engineering principles to solve technical problems.Eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment.Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.Must have excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently with minimal direction, however able to work in team and collaborative environment as well.Qualifications We Desire

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.

Per the Department of Energy (DOE), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory must meet certain restrictions with the use and/or possession of mobile devices in Limited Areas. Depending on your job duties, you may be required to work in a Limited Area where you are not permitted to have a personal and/or laboratory mobile device in your possession. This includes, but not limited to cell phones, tablets, fitness devices, wireless headphones, and other Bluetooth/wireless enabled devices.
If you use a medical device, which pairs with a mobile device, you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas. Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
