Delivery Helper

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Handle product safely.

 

Conduct physical inspection of product to identify damages goods, performs touch- up and repair as needed on product.

 

Place product in designated storage areas safely.

 

Prepare and load customer delivery trucks.

 

Unload and safely place product in customer home.

 

Understand and comply with all store policies and procedures.

 

Remove all packaging materials from the location.

 

Communicates and documents customer concerns to Warehouse Support.

 

Communicates credit, damage and essential information to Customer Service Department.

 

May be required to complete shipping/ receiving paperwork

 

May be required to complete Department of Transportation paperwork.

 

Maintains clean and organized warehouse area.

 

Maintain a professional image.

 

Assist driver as needed with vehicle inspection, routine maintenance and fueling of vehicle at approved locations.

 

Completes other assignments and special projects as requested.

 

Maintains reliable attendance.

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Primarily responsible for own work. Makes routine choices within established procedures with readily available supervision. Work is task oriented with routine and repetitive problems with straightforward alternatives.

 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience 1 year delivery experience with a straight truck preferred Furniture knowledge preferred

 

Knowledge of: Local geographical area Lifting techniques Furniture industry and furniture assembly Furniture line Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools

 

Skills and Abilities Ability to obtain and maintain required State and Federal driving requirements Ability to frequently lift, push, or pull 100 lbs plus to shoulder height Ability to assemble furniture Ability to work safely in an environment that is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts Effective interpersonal communication skills Effective time management and organizational skills Work independently as well as in a team environment Analytical and problem solving skills Maintain confidentiality Respond professionally in situations with difficult employee/vendor/customer issues or inquiries
