Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory Intern – Analytics Business

As an Analytics Intern, you will leverage your data and analytics skills to assist our clients in tackling key business issues that relate to trust. You’ll be involved in understanding and defining business problems, identifying and acquiring data relevant to the issue, performing data analyses, developing analytics and reporting strategies, improving data and analytics governance, and designing and implementing a variety of data-driven solutions. By identifying and quantifying risks through data, you’ll deliver true impact by enhancing the level of trust and transparency within and outside the client organizations.

 

Work you’ll do

Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory Analytics professionals are skilled at providing advice and recommendations to clients, in addition to developing and deploying leading technology and analytics-enabled solutions to solve their most pressing business challenges as it related to accounting, reporting, risk and trust.

 

Specific areas of work could include:

Evaluate client accounting and reporting processes to find and recommend efficiencies through improved process and/or technologyUsing machine learning and other advanced analytical approaches to model financial outcomes and predict when risk events (such as fraud) occurred and the associated organizational impactDefining and calculating key performance and risk indicator metrics to help organizations monitor the health and resiliency of their business and dataHelp stakeholders understand their business and data requirements and develop data sourcing and architecture strategies to fulfill those requirements.Help businesses identify, understand, and assist with risk identification and management strategies related to AI and ESGPerforming data-driven tests and reconciliations to evaluate compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements.Delivering actionable insights through the use of analytics, data visualization and AI to assist our clients in making sound business decisionsDriving operational efficiency through the use of intelligent automation and data visualizationAssessing client’s current state data model, infrastructure, and technologies, while providing strategic advice and recommendations across industry best practice, model efficacy, governance, and operating modelConducting training to help client personnel upskill towards the workforce of the futureMapping data flows and identifying optimal design, architecture, and governance options as well as potential data risks

Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills essential to interacting with clients and teamsAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects/assignments/ responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentProblem solving and critical thinking skills in support of both innovative and operational enhancement opportunitiesAbility to collaborate and communicate across Deloitte team members and client stakeholdersAbility to identify, learn, understand, and implement new concepts, frameworks and emerging technologiesAbility to manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experience A strong understanding of Windows Based systems and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointUnderstanding of the data lifecycle and data infrastructure concepts in order help our clients with defining and implementing data management processes and solutionsFamiliarity or proficiency in data visualization platform(s) and scripting language(s)Ability to work with and manage data sets, including extraction and merges from source systems, transformation, and provide preliminary descriptive analyticsAbility to identify, learn, understand, and implement new concepts and frameworks related to data, analytics, and AI.

 

Qualifications

Required:

Pursuing a Bachelor or Master’s degree in one or more of the following majors with relevant analytics or data management focused coursework desired:Technology: Data Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information SystemsBusiness and Finance: Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Quantitative Finance, Economics, EconometricsMath/Engineering: Computer Engineering, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial MathematicsStrong academic track record with extracurricular activities (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above)Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureCandidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employmentAbility to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serveOur current work environment is a hybrid approach, which means:You should reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if requiredYou can expect to be co-located 30-50% with variations based on business/client needs

 

 

Preferred:

Strong academic track record (Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above)Relevant work experience or work experience in a professional environment (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)Demonstrated recent leadership, such as in a campus club, society, sports teams or other activityDemonstrated recent social impact or volunteer activityFamiliarity with a variety of analytics tools and programming languages such as, but not limited to:Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo DB, Dataiku, Alteryx or ETL SoftwarePredictive Analytics/Data Mining: (e.g., Python, Alteryx) Data Visualization Tools (e.g. QlikView, Tableau, Power Bi)Big Data Tools (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Impala, Mahout)Reporting Tools (e.g., Business Objects, Reporting Services) Financial Tools (e.g. NumeriX, Bloomberg, FinCad, Monte Carlo simulation toolsLanguages (e.g., SQL, Java, JavaScript)

 

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current wage is $40.87/hour.
