Demand Planning Analyst

Pay Rate: $50 Location: Cranberry PA Job Type: Contract IFG Pittsburgh is actively recruiting a Demand Planning Analyst responsible for forecasting demand, managing inventory levels, and ensuring products are available to meet customer needs without overstocking or stockouts. This role focuses on predicting future sales trends, aligning supply chain operations with customer demand, and optimizing inventory management. The analyst works closely with various departments, including sales, marketing, supply chain, and production, to align forecasts with business goals. The role is data-driven, requiring development and use of statistical models and business knowledge to predict demand patterns and manage inventories efficiently.
Responsibilities of the Demand Planning Analyst
Develop accurate demand forecasts based on historical sales data, market trends, and customer insights. Utilize forecasting software and statistical models to predict demand for products at different levels (e.g., regional, national). Work closely with sales and marketing teams to incorporate promotions, marketing campaigns, and seasonality into forecasts. Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is available while minimizing overstock or stockouts. Recommend and implement strategies to optimize inventory across multiple locations (warehouses, retail, etc.). Identify potential slow-moving or obsolete products and work with the sales and production teams to address them. Analyze historical sales data, seasonal trends, and market conditions to create demand forecasts. Track key performance indicators (KPIs), such as forecast accuracy, inventory turns, and stock availability. Create regular reports on demand trends, forecast performance, and inventory status for senior management and stakeholders. Work closely with the supply chain and procurement teams to ensure that suppliers can meet forecasted demand. Assist in the planning and scheduling of production runs, considering forecasted demand and available capacity. Liaise with various departments, including operations, finance, and production, to ensure alignment of demand forecasts with overall business objectives. Serve as the point of contact for other teams regarding demand planning processes and improvements.
Qualifications of the Demand Planning Analyst
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, economics, or a related field 3+ years of experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, and supply chain management Ability to interpret large data sets and identify trends and patterns Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate complex data in a clear and actionable manner Careful attention to the accuracy of demand forecasts, inventory levels, and other key metrics Ability to adjust forecasts and plans based on changing conditions, such as shifts in customer demand or supply chain disruptions
