This position may also provide support to the front desk clerical staff if needed. Assists Dentist during exams and performs expanded functions as defined by guidelines provided by the State of Florida during patient treatment. Makes radiographs and/or intraoral photos of intraoral structures. Maintains dental equipment including daily, weekly and monthly, etc., requirements per manufacturer’s recommendations. Responsible for breakdown, cleaning/disinfecting and setup for next patient of dental operatory. Responsible for preparing dental instruments for sterilization and storage after sterilization. Communicates with parents regarding care that is planned and assists with scheduling appointments for further treatment needs. Monitors supply inventory and places inventory that is low on needed supply order forms. Provides backup front desk support when not with patients and as needed, for the dental program to include, answering phones, scheduling client appointments, making new patient packets and folders, copying/highlighting forms to be placed in new charts, sending out recall notices, confirming client appointments, pulling client records for clinic visits, mail-outs of appointment reminders, and verifying re-call dates on mail-outs, provides support and verifies all appropriate paperwork is in client record prior to client being seen. Requests assistance from supervisor for any issues related to policies and procedures of the dental program. Performs other duties as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic computer skills. Knowledge of sterilization equipment. Knowledge of dental x-ray/processor equipment. Knowledge of dental lab equipment, Expanded dental functions. Qualifications: Minimum- Dental Assistant Certificate. Basic computer skills. Valid driver’s license. Willing to travel. Must have reliable transportation. Expanded Functions Certificate. Experience with dental x-ray. Willing to work a flex schedule at or between Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County Health Departments.
