This position is to uphold Promise Healthcare's mission to provide the highest level of quality care performing reception, chair-side assisting, inventory and record duties. Under the general direction and supervision of the Dentist, this person prepares patient for dental examination. Assists in providing patient care, within the appropriate scope of practice, to an ethnically diverse patient population.\n

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nAssists the dentist and hygienists in chair-side procedures routinely done in a general and pediatric dental practice.\nResponsible for preparation and setting up of instruments, materials, and equipment necessary for each procedure.\nResponsible for the sterilization of instruments, and the cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment and work areas.\nOccasionally schedules patients, and accurately records information in patient records. Acts as back up support to the dental patient services representative.\nExhibits positive leadership skills, actively striving to improve the patient and staff experience of Promise Healthcare, as well as strong communication skills, including willingness to grow and develop skills in motivational interviewing.\nAssist in processing encounters.\nIdentify related medical and\/or social problems, \nAssist in maintaining inventory of supplies and materials as well as maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of inventory. \nAssists with the training of new Dental Assistants.\n\n

Hospital Responsibilities (IF applicable):\n\nAssist the Dentist in dental surgical procedures.\nReview pre-operative and post-operative instructions with guardian.\nDocument treatment and other notes in EDR.\nResponsible for the preparation and set up of the Operating Room.\nMaintain knowledge of supplies and inventory in the Dental Cart and storage room.\nMaintain knowledge and understanding of consent forms regarding surgical procedures. Review with patient and guardian as needed.\nAdhere to PPE operating room requirements.\nComply with [CHC] employee policies and procedures including, but not limited to (privileging and credentialing, handling equipment, sterilization, etc...).\nAdhere to PHC Radiation and Safety procedure. Follow correct operating procedure for NOMAD.\n\n

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nMaintain a safe work environment by remaining informed of and compliant with the clinic's safety policies, and in particular by application of safe practices in area of own responsibility.\nCompliance:\nKnowledgeable of and compliant with laws and regulations governing area of responsibility.\nResponsible for reporting any potentially non-compliant conduct.\nCooperate fully with our Compliance Officer in upholding our Compliance Plan\nPerform other duties and responsibilities, as required. Will be crossed trained to other medical clinical duties to support the full integration of oral health.\n\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. \nExcellent interpersonal and administrative management experience\nMust have working knowledge of the operations and administration of an FQHC dental clinic including: patient care protocols, quality control regulations, policies, procedures billing and insurances, inventory control, etc.\nExcellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills to relate effectively with the dental department and other health center staff.\n\n

Must acquire nitrous certification within the first 6-9 months of employment\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:\n\nModerate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.)\n\n

WORK ENVIRONMENT:\n\nRisk of exposure to blood borne pathogens\nDental Operatory and equipment as well as usual office environment\nAbility to travel from clinic to clinic in own vehicle or dental van as required\n\n

EDUCATION \/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:\n\nHS Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred\nPrevious dental experience desired, but not required.\n\n

LANGUAGE SKILLS:\n\nBilingual (Spanish or French) language preferred but not required\n\n\n
