Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a full-time dental assistant to work at the main hospital campus in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. 

Under general supervision, this person performs duties associated with the delivery of clinical dental care. Interacts favorably with patients, parents, co-workers, supervisors, dentists, and other Hospital staff in a dignified manner so that the Department’s operations are orderly, efficient and consistent with Hospital decorum and high standards of professionalism.

UPMC is offering a $3000 sign on bonus for this role with a 2 year work commitment. 

Responsibilities:

Page, greet and seat patient. Weigh patient if applicable. Prepare electronic documents including discharge summary and school/work excuse. Give and receive accurate and complete information to parents and doctors while displaying professionalism. Pass instruments to the Dentist/Orthodontist during Dental/Orthodontic examinations and procedures using four handed dental assisting techniques. Mix various cements and materials and place topical anesthetics and rubber dams on patients. Take and develop radiographs of a consistent, good diagnostic quality for review by dentist. Take and pour study model impressions, trim and finish cases, mail and receive appliances and models from laboratories. Assist in the clinic and hospital OR and Satellite locations including proper room set up, chair side assisting and clean up in accordance with hospital and clinic standards. Perform all necessary housekeeping procedures including keeping all work areas properly stocked. Manage spills and patient accidents Maintain equipment and supplies with oversight from the Clinic Coordinator.
