Dental Assistant
Amergis
The Dental Assistant provides support to the dentist during patient care and completes the preparation of the room and dental tools/equipment. The Dental Assistant complete intake paperwork, update patient records, sterilize and organize dental tools, and assist during any dental procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures
+ Takes and records medical and dental histories
+ Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays
+ Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts
+ Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies
+ Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
+ Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist
+ Records treatment information in patient records
+ Schedules appointments, prepare bills, and receives payment for dental services, completes insurance forms, and maintains clerical records manually or using the computer
+ Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
+ High School diploma or its equivalent
+ Current License/Certificate within state of practice
+ One year experience as Dental Assistant preferred
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
+ Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
