Job Description
The Dental Assistant will be part of the Faculty Dentistry team, consisting of 4-5 providers per day and 7-9 Dental Assistants. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the team to provide patient care in a timely and efficient manner, delivering quality service to ensure patient satisfaction.
ResponsibilitiesPerform chair-side assisting in delivery of patient care related to dental treatment procedures and record in the patient management system.Maintain clinic cleanliness, open and lock up clinic, deliver and retrieve instruments to and from sterilization, and set up operatories.Handle patient scheduling and appointment confirmations, and confirm lab cases are ready for delivery.Facilitate the opening and closing of the clinic and assist with daily operations including operating rooms and other areas throughout and outside the workstation.Open, reopen, and prepare rooms for procedures, and support the cleanup, break down, and room set-up process.Assist faculty, residents, and staff with clinical procedures in various areas.Prepare each operatory with adequate instrumentation and supplies to ensure efficiency for procedures.Maintain adequate supplies for room assignments and keep clinic operatories neat, clean, and stocked.Maintain complete inventory of all clinical supplies and ensure that hand-pieces, vacuum lines, traps, tray set-ups, counters, and automatic developers are cleaned and properly sterilized.Adhere to Infection Control Protocol, appropriate attire, and eye wear.Perform sterilization duties including delivery and retrieval of instruments to and from sterilization and storing instruments appropriately upon return.Essential SkillsX-ray proficiencyRadiographyCertified Orthodontist AssistantDental AssistingDental Assistant graduateOrtho ExperienceChair-side assistingAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum 3+ years of dental assisting back office experienceCurrent Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificationDental Assistant CertificationCertified Orthodontist Assistant (COA) preferredWork Environment
The Dental Assistant will work in a private practice setting with 4-5 providers at any given time, seeing 30-40 patients in the morning and another 30-40 patients in the afternoon. The schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
