Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our four-handed dentistry procedures, assisting with chairside activities, and enabling the dentist to work more efficiently. You will play a key role in patient interaction and ensure a smooth workflow during treatment.
Essential Functions:Welcome patients to the dental office with a friendly and professional demeanorAssist the dentist during various treatment proceduresRemove glasses or prosthetic appliances as neededTake and record blood pressure, ensuring patient safetyHelp patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatmentsPrepare the operatory by following PPE guidelinesGather materials and diagnostic tools required for planned proceduresSterilize instruments and maintain cleanliness in the operatorySupport the provider’s chairside instructionsAccurately chart patient visits and complete E&M codingFill in the day sheet with the relevant proceduresTranscribe provider documentation into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) systemMaintain a safe and sanitized environment in the operatoryMonitor and maintain inventory of suppliesOrganize lab cases for assigned providersProvide support to front desk staff with patient scheduling, answering calls, and assisting with patient follow-upsEnsure compliance with all sterilization and maintenance policiesWork collaboratively with multiple providers as necessaryPerform diagnostic quality X-rays and preliminary impressionsComply with all relevant state and federal laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)Other duties as needed
Competencies:Operatory and Materials PreparationPatient Charting and PreparationExperience with Four-Handed DentistryDiagnostic Quality X-RaysSafety and PPE PracticesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentDental X-ray Certification and experience8-hour Infection Control CertificationDental Practice Act CertificationCurrent CPR CertificationMinimum 1-year experience in the dental field
Preferred Qualifications:Graduation from a dental assistant schoolExperience in a community dental clinic settingFamiliarity with NextGen or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) systemsKnowledge of dental billing practicesExperience with Denti-Cal guidelinesBilingual (English/Spanish) preferredKnowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methodsStrong communication and interpersonal skills
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
