Under the supervision of a dentist, performs medical and administrative skills to support patients and dental services staff. This is a Full Time position 36 hrs per week - shift hours 7:30am - 5:00pm Monday - Thursday~ **Responsibilities:** + Assists with performing assessments and treatments. + Performs diagnostic radiographs. + Obtains alginate impressions for diagnostic and/or intra-oral appliances. + Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned. + Maintains dental equipment and medical supplies, including sterilizing instruments, reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting. + Maintains examination areas. + Works in clinical and operating room settings as needed. + Other duties as assigned. **Education:** + High School Diploma or GED required. + Knowledge and understanding of the dental management of medically compromised patients to include cardiology, oncology, hematology and infectious disease patients. **Certifications:** + Must be state certified as a Dental Assistant Radiographer. + Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) must be obtained within one year of employment OR must hold a certification as a Certified Ohio Dental Assistant (CODA) administered by the Ohio Commission on Dental Assistant Certification (OCDAC). + Specific certification required is dependent on assigned area. + Basic Life Support (BLS) required. **Complexity of Work:** + Must have the ability to be compassionate to patients who are under physical or emotional stress. + Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. + Must be able to work in a stressful and fast paced environment. **Work Experience:** + Two years of dental assisting experience. **Physical Requirements:** + Must be able to ambulate patients for x rays and to dental chair. + Dexterity sufficient to operate CRT/PC and other office equipment. + Ability to work while standing the majority of work day. + Requires frequent data entry, lifting patients, pushing/pulling over 75 pounds, sitting, squatting, standing and walking. + Must possess manual dexterity to pass instrumentation, hand mix impression material and stone / plaster, use applicator gun to express impression gun, trimming casts as well as operate PC. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
