The Dental Hygienist performs as part of a dental health team under the supervision of a dentist. Involvement includes clinical dental work and education with specific responsibilities governed by the state in which the hygienist is employed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleans and polishes a patient’s teeth- removes plaque deposits and stains Applies medication for the prevention of tooth decay Takes and develop x-rays Makes model impressions of teeth for study or dental devices Obtains medical and dental histories and records information in the patient’s dental record Provides instruction for patient self-care, diet, and nutrition Placement of sealant or cavity preventative agents such as fluorides Placement of temporary fillings and periodontal dressings Smoothing and polishing silver amalgam restorations Other duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:
Current Registered License for the state in which practicing. A minimum of one year experience as a Dental Hygienist Preferred.
