Summary\:
The Dental Hygienist will manage the re-call program, coordinate and schedule treatment and provide clinical dental hygiene services for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) and Periodontology and Oral Implantology Graduate Program for the School of Dentistry.
Essential Functions\:
*Manage the re-call program in the AEGD clinic.
*Responsible for coordinating treatment and scheduling dental hygiene appointments for patients in both clinics.
*Provide clinical dental hygiene services for AEGD.
*Perform oral examination including Periodontal charting.
*Perform oral prophylaxis treatment.
*Scaling and root planning.
*Take digital radiographs.
*Apply topical fluoride.
*Make appointments for hygiene patients.
*Provide oral hygiene, oral health and nutritional instruction.
*Function as dental assistant when needed or requested by Program Director.
*Provide appropriate instruction regarding their treatment as well as any additional follow up that is needed and will monitor patient treatment plans and communicate patient status with the appropriate faculty or staff.
*Utilize hygiene instruments and Dental x-ray equipment.
*Order supplies and instruments for dental hygiene patient activities.
*Maintain dental hygiene instruments and supplies including sharpening hygiene instruments.
*Management of AEGD hygiene program and patient documentations utilizing dental software such as Axium.
*Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience\:
Registered Dental Hygienist with current Pennsylvania License or ability to obtain PA license with some experience with managing a clinical practice and working with a computerized Dental Clinic Management System. X-ray certified. Current CPR and BLS certification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities\:
*Comprehensive knowledge of oral hygiene care.
*Must be cognizant of the public, social and economic factors which impact the overall health of the patients.
*Prior experience working with a computerized Dental Clinic Management System.
*Extreme attention to detail as well as confidentiality.
*Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external customers.
Preferred\:
*Bachelor’s degree and experience managing large office / clinic preferred.
This position requires a background check.
This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.
