Job Summary: The dental hygienist provides clinical and educational services under the general direction and guidance of a dentist; however, the hygienist may decide what treatment best suits the patients' needs. The dental hygienist is required to,, and to motivate each person on their oral hygiene needs.

Primary Tasks:

Perform chair side prophylaxis, full mouth debridement, sub gingival scaling and root planning by using hand instruments, and ultrasonic devices. Observes, reports, and charts all oral conditions and periodontal problems by examining the patients' teeth, mouth, throat, and pharynx. Places temporary restorations, desensitizing agents, sealants, remove sutures, and change periodontal dressings. You will educate patients on proper brushing and flossing technique, nutritional and dietary counseling for control of dental disease, tobacco counseling, and care of removable appliances and bridges. You will administer anesthesia and medications such as topical anesthetic, local anesthetic, topical fluoride gel, topical fluoride varnish, and may administer nitrous oxide. You will review patient dental history, medical history, medications, chart, and radiographs before initiating treatment. Practice infection control standards as set forth by company policy and procedures. Other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Physical Requirements: Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a lot of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered able to perform a full or wide range of light work, you can do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that you can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.

Required Education and experience:
