**Responsibilities:**
Manages and monitors dental status and financial compliance for Dentistry patient base. Acts as a liaison between patients and providers to ensure appropriate dental records tracking, treatment planning, financial counseling, and accounts receivable management. Responsible for seamless and timely patient movement through the treatment plan, from maintaining appointments, treatment planning, financial arrangements, and approval phase until case completion.
Responsibilities
General Purpose:
With minimum direction and considerable latitude for independent judgment, position is responsible for processing referrals and pre-determination of benefits, conducts medical and dental insurance verification, reviews complex treatment plans with patients, provides financial counseling, and conducts daily charge reconciliation.
Acts as principle liaison between patients and providers to ensure appropriate tracking, treatment planning, financial counseling, and accounts receivable management. Responsible for seamless and timely patient movement through the treatment plan, from maintaining appointments, treatment planning, financial arrangements, and approval phase until case completion.
Responsibilities:
Financial Counseling: Exercising tact, initiative and independent judgment makes decision using approved Dentistry procedures regarding security of complex, high dollar, dental accounts. Negotiates down-payments and authorizes repayment status for high dollar, complex patient plans in accordance with Dentistry policies and guidelines. Reviews appointment history and upcoming payment obligations to initiate patient contact for payment due reminders.
Insurance Management: Initiates insurance preauthorization, verification, and/or service authorization in advance of treatment through review of dental insurance benefits and requirements. Maintains working knowledge of various insurance policies and regulations related to compliance requirements.
Referrals: Processes all internal and external referrals, prioritizing referrals based on department policies. Employs tracking mechanism to ensure referral approvals and appointments are obtained in a timely manner. Contacts referred patients, registers and schedules new patient referral appointments. Coordinates daily efforts to edit and correct registration and billing errors. Serves as primary contact to Billing personnel, care provider and/or Practice Manager to resolve patient concerns.
Make referrals to Social Work as deemed necessary.
Scheduling Management: Ensures accuracy of patient schedules by way of a thorough working knowledge of various insurance policies and regulations. Understands when patient has exceeded visits or is scheduled too soon for various dental procedures.
Performs other duties for supervisor as directed including working on special projects and working with other support staff on special projects. Monitors accurate time reporting procedures.
Provides input to supervisor/administrator to improve the treatment planning process and other related patient care activities.
Acts as authority in the absence of supervisor, exercising good judgment and tact. Trains new staff.

Qualifications:
High School diploma required. One year of dental or medical office experience required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Strong customer service skills (via telephone and in person) and ability to communicate effectively and professionally required. Ability to work well in a fast paced environment and ability to work with a diverse patient and provider population required. Dental experience preferred.
