Yes County Rensselaer Street Address Capital View Office Park - Health Services 52 Washington Street, North Building City Rensselaer State NY Zip Code 12144 Duties Description This Dentist 2 position will act as the Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth’s (DJJOY) Dental Director and will provide clinical supervision of one or more subordinate dentists and will administer the agency’s dental program. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Consult on acute dental conditions referred by subordinate dentists, coordinate dental services with other clinical specialties, train staff, prepare budget, and order and maintain dental equipment and supplies.This Dentist 2 will also be responsible for conducting a minimum of one site visit annually to all OCFS facilities. Duties will include completing case reviews, addressing provider complaints or issues, conducting quality assurance assessments, and meeting with medical staff and facility administrative management to discuss dental needs, issues and concerns, as applicable. Additional administrative duties of the Dentist 2 include, but are not limited to:• Oversight of the implementation of statewide dental services, clinics, equipment/technology upgrades, improvement projects, and ongoing needs thereafter• Review proposed dental care plans of youth and ensure records are maintained in accordance with agency policy and correctional accreditation standards• Collaborate with the agency’s Chief of Medical Services and relevant members of the agency’s dental and administrative teams, as needed• Prepare written reports of dental services rendered by the program• Participate in the development of policies and procedures related to dental services• Recruit dental staff and solicit dental services and provider agreements where needed Direct care dental services will be expected of this position in the event that a facility dental clinic has no dentist and youth are in need of interim dental services.Additional duties to be discussed in detail at interview. Minimum Qualifications Transfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer;Open to the public: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).* The minimum qualifications through the NY HELPS are: Possession of a license and current registration to practice dentistry in New York State and three years of full-time post licensure dentistry experience, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in a dental health care setting. Additional Comments This position requires up to 50% travel.Salary Schedule for the position is as follows: Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 32 + Increased Hiring Rate ($28,588) + Geographic Differential ($35,000). *For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
