Civil Department SupervisorJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Department Supervisor to monitor all projects in progress within the department, ensuring timely execution in accordance with client requirements and company policies. The role involves supervising the preparation of proposals and cost estimates, overseeing daily operations including staff training and development, and participating in business development activities to build and maintain client relationships.

ResponsibilitiesSupervise the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to ensure proper scoping of services, availability of manpower, and pricing to achieve desired profitability.Monitor all projects in progress to ensure timely execution and adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards.Supervise daily operations including staff training, development, performance reviews, utilization of equipment and facilities, safety oversight, quality of services, and timely delivery of services and deliverables.Plan for and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities.Build and maintain client relationships.Perform business and client development activities with support from the Office Manager.Develop and manage employee staffing plans, recruitment, selection, and onboarding with support from the Office Manager.Prepare and execute the annual business plan for the department with support from the Office Manager.Oversee and manage key department metrics such as revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability with support from the Office Manager.Develop an understanding of project-related risks and be familiar with company risk policies.Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure compliance with safety rules and guidelines.Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects, and engage in pre-task planning and quality standards monitoring.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in a technical discipline practiced by the firm (Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology) and 5 years of practice experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years of related experience.Project management skills.Construction and civil engineering knowledge.Professional Engineer (PE) or PMP certification.Supervisory skills.Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.Additional Skills & QualificationsMaster’s degree or PhD preferred.Certification or licensure in the field of expertise.Familiarity with material testing and civil/structural engineering.Understanding of what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the company.Work Environment

The role involves working in both field and office environments. The candidate must be prepared for varying conditions and be committed to safety practices. The position may require the use of standard office equipment and adherence to company dress codes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00
