This is where YOU fit in: As a Department Manager , to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community, and operational successes on a day-to-day basis. You will supervise operational support functions, work with the management team to implement programs, oversee operating expenses, and maximize customer service and operational performance. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer – our activity duty Military and civilian patrons. So, what might a “typical” day look like? o Responsible for supervision of front-end register operations, including scheduling, staffing and training. Ensures upkeep of all front-end equipment including cash registers and front-end cap. o Responsible for supervising and coordinating store receiving and stocking. Supervise associates engaged in a variety of functions, i.e. accounting, janitorial, customer service, etc. o Responsible for overseeing the main store customer service program including special orders and promotes customer satisfaction. Establish and implements an effective customer relations program. Ensures that the services provided meet or exceed standards and customer expectations. o Manage store staffing requirements and training programs. Develops work schedules, interviews and hire personnel. Monitors and controls payroll expenses. o Responsible for sales audit and cashier cage operation, cash collection and control. Audits policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness of operations. o Prepares reports and analysis on controllable expenses. Takes action to ensure expenses are managed to budget and sales trends. The Qualifiers: A total of Four (4) years consisting of the following: T hree (3) years’ experience in administrative, professional, investigative or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain a general knowledge of business practices and administrative processes; skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships; and the ability to exercise mature judgement. OR a su bstitution of Education for Experience is one (1) year of academic study, above the high school level may be substituted for nine (9) months of experience, up to a maximum of a four (4) year bachelor’s degree for three (3) years of general experience. One (1) year of responsible experience in administrative, supervisory, professional or technical work that demonstrated the knowledge of retail business principles, practices, methods and techniques. Knowledge of retail and or services merchandising principles, procedures and combination of related activities in the areas of accounting, personnel, procurement and distribution management and store operations. Be available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
