JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Physics is seeking an Assistant Research Professor with exceptional research potential. Research will be related to the synthesis of two-dimensional materials by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and their characterization using angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), low temperature electrical magnetotransport at dc, low frequency, and RF. Other duties will be, but not limit to are the following:
+ Focus on duties associated with the NSF Materials Innovation Platform (MIP).
+ Research on quantum materials associated with other externally funded projects.
+ In-house research but also expected to collaborate and assist external users of the 2DCC facility.
Education & Experience
+ Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemistry with experience in Y-Fi laser ARPES and related characterization techniques and/or MBE growth of thin films.
+ Strong track record of related research as evidenced by publications list.
+ Experience maintaining and operating ultra-high vacuum thin film deposition equipment and cryogenic ultrahigh vacuum surface characterization tools.
+ Experience maintaining and operating cryostats with high magnetic fields for dc, low frequency ac, and RF frequency electrical measurements.
+ Experience in lithographic patterning of devices at micron and submicron scales in a cleanroom environment.
+ Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
This is a non-tenure, term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding. A Ph.D. in one of the disciplines mentioned above by the date of the appointment is required.
