Job DescriptionSUMMARY
Defines and controls the process of the assigned department by developing and managing process control procedures, develop and maintain training standards and the training matrix for assigned area, continuous improvement projects, and team building. The Specialist will be a leader for the area assigned and will ensure the team is set up for success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Defines and controls the process of Injection, Blow Molding, Nissei and/or ISB. Set and establish standards for equipment and “Best of Class” process control.
2. Develops written procedures and process books to ensure goods are produced to specifications.
3. Troubleshoots and corrects machine malfunctions and quality issues at local facility.
4. Assists in training, new machine installations/start-ups, and machine/process improvements.
5. Trains process leads and operators on proper machine operation.
6. Communicates with vendors to ensure all machine parts and other orders are processed in a timely manner. Recommends and evaluates new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment, works with corporate R&D/Purchasing.
7. Qualifies new lines and ensures start up lines are operating within specifications. Evaluates and recommends specification changes for both finished goods and raw materials from suppliers.
8. Schedules and ensures preventative maintenance is performed on all machines assigned to the department. Evaluates and recommends changes and additions to PM’s or schedule of PM’s.
9. Manages continuous improvement projects, evaluates the success of the projects, and recommends next steps to be taken.
10. Approves vacation for process leads and ensures coverage is adequate for production levels.
11. Effectively communicates with all internal departments and external customers.
12. Ensures work areas are clean and general housekeeping duties are being performed.

EDUCATION
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems collects data, establish fact, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. Safety glasses are required to be worn. The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
AUTHORIZATION
1. Ability to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee’s health and/or safety.
2. Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained.
3. Ability to shut down any if it is down three times in one hour for the same mechanical problem.
4. Authority to contact any staff or management team member with concerns, questions or suggestions pertaining to their job or work environment.
5. Initiate Corrective Actions for violations of Company policies.
6. Recommend hiring, termination and promotions of subordinates.
7. Approve expenditures up to pre-determined amount identified by corporate guidelines without prior approval of Department Manager.
