PURPOSE:
Receives deliveries of store products from all DSD/Individual vendors and verifies accuracy of invoices. Insures credits for damages and shortages. Primarily responsible for operating receiving systems according to Company and Division policies. Maintains a good rapport with vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providingfast and friendly Customer Service.
•Receives all DSD (Direct Store Delivery) deliveries made to the store, logs deliveries and all non-Albertsons/Tom Thumb distribution deliveries into the computer.
•Breaks down loads from DSD suppliers. May transport product from receiving area into freezer or cooler area.
•Ensures cost control, quality control, and inventory control through verifying orders against invoices, auditingcontents of product cases and using the electronic receiving system to verify cost.
•Maintains invoices and reports in the established filling system according to the record retention schedule.
•Reviews and accepts only proper and correct orders submitted by outside sales representatives.
•Prevents shrink, damage and spoilage of products. Repairs and prices damaged product if saleable. Discardsor returns damaged product to appropriate vendor as required.
•Responsible for the security, sanitation and organization of the receiving, storage and loading dock areas.
•Performs training duties. Operates related equipment such as: manual pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, powerlifts, balers, compactors, safety cutters, scissors, pricing guns, telephone and computer equipment such ashand held units and printers.
•May occasionally perform duties such as: ordering, stocking, stacking, facing/conditioning, pricing, marking androtating of dairy and frozen food items in the absence of the dairy and frozen food clerks.
•Inspects backroom equipment (i.e. pallet jack, baler). Reports any malfunctions to store director.
•Ability to follow and maintain department standards and requirements.
•Trains employees in store policies, sales and record keeping procedures.
•Identifies and trains employees with high potential for advancement opportunities.
•Working knowledge of Company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom ThumbEmployee Handbook.
•Responsible for insuring proper code dating for all products within the department are being enforced.
•Controls shrink and cost.
•Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
•Ensures safety, cleanliness and sanitation of work area, and equipment.
•Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
•Complies with and ensures compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
•Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty andintegrity.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professional demeanor in regards to customers and co-workers.
• Ability to frequently reach, lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 60 lbs. Bends, stoops and reaches frequently. Pushes and pulls fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks. Performs repetitious arm movement to prepare, package and display products.
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures. Must have knowledge of product variety, standards, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling and department policies and procedures.
• Operates telephone, pallet jack, hand truck, power lifts, balers, scissors, and safety cutters. Utilizes cleaning supplies and equipment.
• May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Scheduled hours will vary. Good attendance is required.
• Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aids necessary to perform job duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Generally works in a temperature controlled environment. Frequent exposure to refrigerated conditions and items at or around 35°. May be exposed to -20° F while handling products in freezer.
• Occasional travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
