Instructor/Clinical Oral Surgery
The School of Dentistry at The University Health San Antonio is currently hiring positions for Instructor/Clinical, Oral Surgery at the non-tenure track level within the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). The positions are 100% benefits eligible and full-time for a period of 12 months.
The department is looking for dedicated, self-driven and enthusiastic individuals to become part of the OMFS team for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year. Applicants are required to have a strong academic record and good interpersonal skills. This opportunity offers valuable experience for individuals aspiring to pursue a career in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Applicants must be able to obtain a Texas Dental license and Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Inhalation Sedation permit. Fees for obtaining the Texas Dental license and Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Inhalation Sedation permit will be covered by the department.
Primary responsibilities will include the following duties:
Teaching responsibilities: Instruct students and deliver direct patient care in dentoalveolar surgery in the Predoctoral Oral Surgery Clinic at the School of Dentistry at UT Health San Antonio, five days a week. Take primary calls: Participate in the call schedule, roughly Q4-5 primary calls (Level 1 trauma center). This is split amongst the other Oral Surgery interns and rotating OMFS residents. Inpatient manager of patients: Acquire skills in pre/peri/postoperative management in the inpatient setting. Participation in educational activities: Didactics constitute a crucial part of the program and includes:a. Participation in weekly morbidity and mortality (M&M) rounds.
b. Participation in the dentofacial deformities treatment planning sessions along with Oral Surgery/Orthodontic residents.
c. Participation in the monthly Clinical/Pathological Conferences along with the OMFS Residents.
d. Participation in the journal club along with OMFS residents.
e. Participation in the Implant/Prosthodontic Conference along with OMFS residents.
f. Attending lecture presentations given by Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery faculty members.
g. Lecture development and presentation on designated topics as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a DDS/DMD degree, with eligibility to obtain a dental licensure in the State of Texas.
