[Montana DPHHS in front of graphic of a mountain and sun] The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is seeking a Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). The Deputy CHRO assists the Chief Human Resources Officer in developing and managing human resources strategies, processes and functions for the Department of Public Health and Human Services. As the largest executive branch department in Montana State Government, DPHHS has over 2,800 employees and numerous collective bargaining agreements. In collaboration with the Chief HR Officer, this position establishes and implements strategic HR plans and objectives by overseeing, planning, integrating, and coordinating human resources activities and staff in all areas of HR. The position directly and indirectly supervises multiple human resources positions, including hiring, firing, performance management, discipline, work distribution, and employee development. For a copy of the full job description or reasonable accommodation assistance, contact the individual listed below. *Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* * Knowledge of human resource management and related federal and state laws and policies. * Ability to lead people and programs with significant impact. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build consensus. * Ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple and competing high-profile, sensitive and/or controversial issues. * Ability to develop and implement innovative approaches to challenging situations. * Ability to provide effective and professional customer service. * Skill to supervise, manage and motivate staff to accomplish goals and objectives. *Qualifications: * * Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration or a related field. * Five years of progressively responsible human resources experience. * At least two years of human resources supervisory experience. Public sector senior human resources generalist or manager experience strongly preferred.
