Tetra Tech International Development (International Development Jobs - Tetra Tech), is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Deputy Chief of Party Technical position on a USAID-funded Climate Resilient Agricultural Market Systems Activity in Egypt. The anticipated five-year, USAID-funded Climate Resilient Agricultural Market Systems Activity will increase the capacity, sustainable productivity, and incomes of key stakeholders in Egypt’s agriculture market systems. Specifically, this project seeks to create a set of complementary activities that; (a) promote Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA); (b) improve the enabling environment for sustainable agriculture and food security; and (c) enhance the capacity of Business Development Service (CDS) providers for inclusive economic growth.
This position will be based in Cairo, Egypt. The expected term of appointment is five years.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the Chief of Party to ensure that the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and progress of all program activities are in accordance with established strategies and meet the goals of targeted communities, stakeholders, USAID, and the government of Egypt.
* Serve as the project’s second point of contact with USAID/Egypt regarding day-to-day implementation and management matters relating to the award.
* Provide strategic vision and technical expertise, and manage key technical staff focusing on areas such as climate smart agriculture and improved enabling environment for agriculture and food security.
* Ensure that cross-cutting themes such as gender equality and female and youth empowerment are fully integrated into programming and activities.
* Promote teamwork and collaboration across all project staff, and ensure effective planning and administrative support to achieve technical outcomes and ensure program quality.
* Fulfill the role of Acting Chief of Party, when necessary.
Qualifications:
* Master’s Degree (or higher) in climate smart agriculture, agricultural economics, climate sciences, international development, or another related discipline is required.
* At least ten (10) years of experience implementing development activities with demonstrated technical expertise in one or more of the following technical disciplines: economic growth, climate smart agriculture, market systems development, climate change, business enabling environments or food security.
* At least five (5) years of experience leading technical teams in Middle East and North Africa Region, preferably Egypt.
* Proven experience effectively working and building strong relationships with a broad range of counterparts and stakeholders, including government officials and private sector actors is required.
* Strong communication skills, including interpersonal and written skills.
* Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
* Egyptian nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
* Professional fluency in English and Arabic required.
