Deputy Court Clerk
Overview The Deputy Court Clerk is under the direction and supervision of the District Court Clerk. This position assists in all duties of the court clerk and acts as the initial point of contact for the tribal court. The Deputy Court Clerk receives cases for filing in the district court, maintains case files, prepares court records and documents, and provides respectful and responsive support to the district court. This position works closely with the district judges, attorney general's office, and Cherokee Nation Child Welfare department in the coordination and timely scheduling of hearings. Qualifications EDUCATION High school diploma or general education degree (GED). EXPERIENCE At least two (2) years of experience in a related field. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Order processing systems, Payroll systems, and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS A valid driver's license, with a driving history, verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. The Deputy Court Clerk may be required to attend meetings and/or training away from work location which would require them to drive to the destination. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). The Deputy Court Clerk must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and the ability and professionalism to logically deal with a range of diverse personalities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
