Deputy Director
Job Description Hours: Full-Time – 35 Hours Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Ave, LIC, Queens 11101 The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) Finance and Procurement unit seeks a deputy director of Financial Planning and Reporting. The selected candidate will support the Director in providing data and analytical support to the agency. The Deputy Director primary objective will work with the Director to help improve the unit’s reporting efficiency by leveraging tools such as PowerBI, SQL database, and SharePoint. The candidate will also supervise the current staff analysts and help train new staff analysts on standard reporting tasks, which include, but are not limited to: -Combining data from the City’s Financial Management System (FMS/2 and FMS/3) along with various internal sources into cohesive reports, which help DDC track and manage procurements for the upcoming fiscal years and beyond. -Consolidating and presenting budget and procurement data to help DDC align cost and schedules for the mayor’s triannual plan exercise -Overseeing the cataloguing of Certificate to Proceed documents (CPs), and ensure timely and accurate submission of CP reports to senior staff -Processing data for ad-hoc reports which may not have an established framework The ideal candidate should have experience with relational databases and PowerBI experience is ideal. We are looking for analysts skilled at multitasking and communicating data for a wide array of audiences. Experience with the City’s FMS/2 and FMS/3 is a plus. A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field, and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area. 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience, as described in "1" above.
