The Deputy Director for Medical Services is responsible for planning, supporting, and implementing programs related to clinical care and medical direction and serves as the state EMS medical director.
The incumbent will serve as principal advisor to the OEMS Director on evolving topics in clinical medicine including but not limited to infectious disease, pharmaceutical and equipment shortages, and implementation of new therapeutics.
This position is responsible for enforcing and coordinating the laws, rules, and policies assigned to the incumbent by the director. This position advises the director on these areas of responsibility and serves as a member of the OEMS senior staff. The Deputy Director of Medical Services serves in the unclassified service and is required to be a licensed physician under MN Statutes Chapter 147.
**Please note this is a part time position working up to 8 hours per week.**
**Minimum Qualifications**
Five (5) years of clinical experience as a practicing physician demonstrating the following:
+ Must be a licensed physician with unencumbered licensed to practice medicine in Minnesota and must be licensed in good standing with the MN Practices Board.
+ Demonstrated current or previous experience as an EMS Medical Director in Minnesota carrying out responsibilities under Minnesota Statute 144E.265
+ Demonstrated leadership experience in health care management, public health, and policymaking.
+ Experience developing and implementing evidence-based practice models in the pre-hospital setting.
**Minimum qualifications accessed during the interview**
+ Ability to articulate issues in a concise manner, accessible to a wide range of audiences
+ Leadership skills necessary to analyze and articulate complex policy concepts, envision change, and promote creative and innovative approaches in a respectful and inclusive manner
+ Ability to be data driven, with a working knowledge of management information systems, statistical analysis, and outcome data analysis
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Board certification in emergency medicine or emergency medical services
+ Implementation experience in change management
+ Extensive understanding of the emergency medical services system within and around the state of Minnesota
+ Understanding of how to participate in the legislative process as a lead professional state agency representative
+ Effective interpersonal influence, collaboration and listening skills
**Additional Requirements**
This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, and insurance, OR have other reliable transportation.
