Deputy editor, US Location: New York Department: The Times & The Sunday Times Salary Details: Not Specified **Advertising End Date:** 16 Feb 2025 Job Description **Role:** **Deputy editor, US, The Times and Sunday Times** **Location: New York** **Reporting to: US Editor, The Times and Sunday Times** The Times and Sunday Times are hiring a Deputy editor, US, to work closely with the US editor and lead and grow our team in America. **Key Accountabilities:** + To assist the US editor with leading our US team, publishing US-focused stories and curating the best of the Times and Sunday Times globally for American audiences + Assist with the daily publishing operation,regularly presenting at the daily editorial conference andliaising with our team of correspondents and UK desks to agree daily coverage plans + Work with editors, writers and reporters to conceive, commission and edit exclusive agenda-setting US content for a digital audience + Deputise for the US editor and help to lead our content and audience strategy, working closely with the UK to adhere to overall strategy tailored to US market + Use audience data to help guide commissioning and forward planning + Work closely with the US editor on the launch of other digital products to grow audience e.g. newsletter, podcast + Help to lead and manage the team, develop talent and support progression **Key Skills and Experience:** + Reporting or editing at a national news organisation + Subject matter expertise: US news and politics, business, tech, society + Strong grasp of digital publishing, including search, social, video, graphics + Experience of staff management + Proven track record of collaborative working + Persuasive presentation skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to problem-solve + A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
