Deputy Executive Producer

Bloomberg Media seeks an experienced journalist, manager and podcast producer to co-run the flagship podcast franchise, The Big Take, which includes a daily show and two weekly shows focused on Asia and Washington, DC. The narrative franchise, publishing 5 days a week, focuses on original, global and financial news. The Deputy Executive Producer will work under the guidance of the Executive Producer, in collaboration with a larger, global editorial and production podcast team as well as alongside reporters and editors in Bloomberg’s wider newsroom. This is a role that works across time zones, requires quick, deft decisions, a strong narrative instinct and strong people-management, all with a steady, calm and confident hand. Responsibilities: With the Executive Producer, responsible for day-to-day publication of The Big Take podcast, from episode conceptualization and editorial to staff direction and logistics Work closely Executive Producer on programming, decision making and breaking news Leader w/direct reports supervising production team Attends regular newsroom-wide planning and coverage meetings to represent Big Take podcast programming Works closely with Big Take print newsroom colleagues to align coverage Willing and able to deftly work through journalistic questions and challenges from producers or editors Willingness to work outside of normal working hours, with occasional meetings with Hong Kong and London, other times zones or breaking news Steps into EP role as fill-in when needed, including making breaking news calls, weighing in on DC and Asia story selection, staffing episode and managing team Skills and Experience: 10+ years of journalism experience Business and financial news reporting or producing required Audio experience required Experience managing teams and working on a daily show required Must desire to work collaboratively with and be interested in mentoring others Flexibility and thoughtfulness in decision-making a must Strength in running logistics Experience in editing narrative storytelling a plus IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU: Apply if you think we're a good match.
