Summary This position serves as a deputy to the Director of the Office of Safety, Health, and Emergency Preparedness (SHEP), leading and managing a team of staff who support planning, analysis, and coordination of a wide variety of emergency readiness activities supporting the Department and Departmental Offices (DO). Responsibilities As a Deputy for Readiness, you will: Be responsible for ensuring that employees are fully trained, aware of their responsibilities and roles, and maintain the highest levels of accountability and performance. It also serves as the chief implementer of the Readiness staff's continuous process improvement initiatives to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of SHEP Operations. Specifically, the incumbent leads the Readiness efforts to establish, execute, and continuously improve new or existing emergency preparedness processes and procedures. Support SHEP's initiatives supporting the offices of the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Assistant Secretary for Management, and other senior Treasury Officials, by leading SHEP's planning and preparedness activities to facilitate executive decision making during an emergency. Ensure that the minimally necessary number of Readiness staff is always available in SHEP to support emergencies. During an emergency, the incumbent supports the TOC's emergency management system and ensures that all Readiness staff properly executes their assigned emergency response roles. Requirements Conditions of Employment Key Requirements: Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. A one-year probationary period may be required. A one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience preforming work developing plans or contingencies for emergency or crisis management of an organization. Examples of this could include: -Experience leading and implementing emergency management and planning, continuity of operations, and continuity of government or corporate activities. OR -Experience directing and leading process improvement and team building. OR -Experience with critical infrastructure and workforce protection activities. TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks. TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
