The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is looking for a Program Manager to help lead and manage the Plant Reliability & Resilience (PRR) research area of its Nuclear Sector.
This position, who works with the Senior Program Manager of PRR, provides an opportunity for an experienced individual to make a difference and contribute to the improvement of Engineering and Maintenance activities of nuclear power plants worldwide.
In this role, you will manage and lead cutting-edge R&D technology for the Plant Reliability and Resilience Program in the development and application of products and services designed to improve Nuclear Plant Equipment Reliability (ER) concepts and practices pertaining to plant structures, systems, and components, and to improve and optimize plant performance. You will also encourage collaboration across the department and other sectors where applicable to increase overall member value.
Manage multiple programs or projects with emphasis on execution of the research and development portfolio; working with the area team leaders and their project leaders to execute projects and member requests efficiently and provide critical value for our members. They are also responsible for execution of the R&D strategy across the sub areas within the PRR department.
Has working knowledge of various EPRI Sector programs, strategy and values and aligns Program activities to support cross program participation where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing/implementing the R&D deployment strategy for the area(s).
Responsible for management of one or more technical programs.
Responsible for technical and financial results produced by the program(s).
Accountable for program level succession strategies, hiring of staff, performance management, and development planning.
Identifies the most qualified internal staff and contractor teams to complete the work. Selects contractors, frames statements of work.
Directs the work of the team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
Responsible for employee selection, performance management, and development planning.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
Provides guidance to staff within the latitude of company policy.
May be responsible for the program level advisory structure
The Ideal Candidate:
Understands the research and development process - on an individual and management level.
Direct nuclear plant or utility service provider experience in both the engineering and maintenance areas
Understands industry needs and can identify and implement research and development solutions. This skill includes the ability to work inter-discipline in the broader equipment reliability area.
Is recognized as an expert in key areas of industry research and has authored related publications.
Is willing to travel approximately 25% of the time (including international).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proven leadership and management capability overseeing an R&D Program.
Responsible for funding, spending and workforce planning in program area.
Directly responsible for leading multiple staff including goal setting and performance management.
Proven people management experience with a strong grasp of the skills related to recruitment, hiring, people development, and retention.
Works directly with member advisors to ensure member engagement and guidance.
Presents, with a high degree of technical credibility, Program content, value and research results at member locations and with member leadership.
May present program activities to the Sector Council.
Has working knowledge of the various Sector programs, strategy and values, and aligns Program activities to support cross program participation.
Works without supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education:
Advanced degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
The salary range for this position is $179,550 USD to $196,350 USD annually.This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program.
