Deputy Project Manager

Your Day to Day:

Responsible for project management processes associated with the oversight of the multi-year fabrication of the Replacement Steam Generators at the fabricator and interfacing with medium-sized teams (average 20 – 40 team members), including specific project activities, as assigned by the overall Program Manager for the Replacement Steam Generator project.
Monitor the development and execution of vendor schedules, work packages, staffing plans, etc. to ensure the fabricator is prepared for success. 
Support accurate reporting of fabrication KPIs
Track and Support the closure of fabrication issues / design deviations which will require joint meetings between fabrication, engineering and customer. 
Support development of project management plans and developing scope, schedule, and cost baselines as needed, as well as risk and stakeholder registers per the Westinghouse Project Management Requirements (WPMR).
Based on project management plan, follow department protocols for acquiring team members as needed to complete the work. Integrate all aspects of project including scope, schedule, cost, risk, procurement, quality, resources, communications, and stakeholders. Interpret and transmit project/contract requirements, and subsequent changes, to functional groups following an integrated change management process. Coordinate project communications ensuring team and all stakeholders are kept informed of status. Develop or oversee development of project records in standard databases, systems, and procedures to ensure efficient handling and transmission of project correspondence and documentation internally and externally.
Use interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with the fabricator, and other stakeholders (e.g. internal management) in a matrix environment to facilitate successful project completion on time and within budget.
Responsible for ensuring clear communication and timely handoffs between the Westinghouse domestically based engineering team and the internationally based fabrication team
Identify, assess, and implement improvement or recovery opportunities that will promote successful project delivery.
Use and support Westinghouse project management systems and controls for various projects assuring senior management is provided up-to-date and accurate reports of each project status.
Analyze contract requirements and assist in developing project-specific deliverables to enable successful project implementation, to enhance positive customer relations and increase/maintain profit margin.
Support financial planning through accurately forecasting spending on assigned projects
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, willing to take ownership of challenges, and customer focused.
Individuals with familiarity with the commercial nuclear industry, global work experience, and fabrication are preferred.
 
Who You Are:

Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related technical discipline required.
5+ years of experience as project manager leading and directing low to moderate complexity projects to successful completion
8 - 15+ years of experience as project manager in a technical industry such as engineering, manufacturing, nuclear or fabrication/construction is preferred.
Familiar with the Project Management Institute (PMI®)’s Project Management Body of Knowledge required. PMI Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification or other approved equivalent project management certification is desired.
Westinghouse Advanced Project Manager or Program Manager qualification completed or in process. The successful candidate will be required to complete the PgM qualification within a designated time period. Exemptions may be provided based on prior training and work experience.  
Preferred candidate will have a broad knowledge of nuclear power plants and be familiar with business practices including knowledge of supply chain management, fabrication and engineering practices.
Strong interpersonal skills, such as effective verbal and written communications; ability to lead team members; ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and ability to make decisions and carry out multiple tasks as assigned, with minimal guidance from supervisory Program Manager and mentors.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Office tools. Knowledge and skill of project scheduling and cost management.
Demonstrated ability or understanding of the transformation of data to information for reporting; High-quality presentation skills.
Experience with SAP, Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, Microsoft SharePoint, and Active Risk Manager a plus.
Moderate to High travel (50%+), or temporary relocation, to international fabrication vendor site is expected to be required for this position.
