The role is based in the US, and will work with the US Market Controller to deliver Controlling operations in the US and will work as part of the Global Controlling function and other Market Controllers to identify opportunities to standardize, automate and enhance controlling activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Reporting to the US Market Controller, the Deputy US Market Controller will assist in the delivery of US Market Controlling activities. As Controlling Operations activities are delivered from the Bangalore team, the Deputy US Market Controller will work as directed to support in overseeing the accuracy of financial statements, compliance with US country statutory and regulatory reporting requirements and be part of arrangements to act as the ‘customer’ of the Controlling Operations Bangalore team, but not directly manage the India based team. The role will, from time to time, provide support where the Bangalore Finance team need access to local knowledge or information and will participate in improvement programs and initiatives aimed at improving US Controlling activities whether delivered in-country or offshore and ensuring high levels of user adoption. Key responsibilities include:
On behalf of the US Market Controller, monitor agreed Controlling activities to ensure they are delivered on behalf of the US Market according to country regulatory reporting requirements and according to CN Global standard processes, policies and controls (including US GAAP) providing inputs and guidance to the Bangalore Finance team to ensure that activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner
Participate as required in the statutory audit process in the US and support activities, including engaging with KPMG in order to secure the process, timelines and consistency of the audit process
Review and approve any Low / Medium value manual journals and any judgement based manual journals that are delegated by the US Market Controller
Monitor the Balance Sheet reconciliation process performed by Controlling Operations team, assessing the quality of reconciliations, contributing to action plans to address unreconciled items and providing approvals for agreed Low or Medium priority reconciliations that are delegated by the US Market Controller
Take part in initiatives to improve Free Cash Flow and cash flow forecasts, contributing to the development of opportunities in the US and influencing stakeholders to support the achievement of cash flow targets
Work with team members in US and in the Bangalore Controlling Ops team to identify and implement opportunities to enhance and standardize processes and, technology, including taking part in initiatives that will lead to being able to retire legacy US applications by moving to our global process and systems
Monitor operational KPIs and service delivery, working collaboratively with the US Controlling team and Bangalore Controlling Ops team to ensure actions are taken to address key risks and identify opportunities for improvement across the team
As required, support the Bangalore Finance team by providing access to US knowledge, stakeholders or information
Collaborate across the Global Controlling team to proactively identify opportunities to improve the adoption and effectiveness of Workday and other relevant Finance systems
Provide input on the definition of reporting standards, policies, processes and internal controls with stakeholders including Controlling Operations and Corporate Finance, Tax and Treasury
Input to any Global and Market specific projects that are assigned, helping to ensuring projects are successfully delivered and embedded in the organization
Participate with the Global Controlling team to share opportunities to standardize and enhance service delivery wherever they are delivered
Deputize for the US Market Controller when they are out of office and provide support as directed during peak times
Manage the activities of a US based General Accountant
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Qualified accountant, with 5-7+ years post-qualification experience.
Technically strong and analytical Finance Professional
Experience in a mid level finance role in a large, complex organisation and of leading controlling teams.
Experience of transforming Finance processes and automation and managing change adoption in Finance and Non-Finance teams

Good communications and presentation skills

Workday experience preferred
The expected base salary range for this position is from $175,000- $200,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
