Dermatology Advanced Practice Provider (APRN, PA-C)

The Advanced Practice Professional practices Dermatology under a collaborative agreement with an assigned dermatologist within the Specialties Department, with both disciplines practicing within the scope and boundaries of State regulations. Provides reasonable and prudent dermatological care, practices appropriate management, and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidenced based medicine. Provides general medical care, patient education and treatment to patients of CS-HHC. Promotes and maintains health by providing services under the supervision of the Department Chief/Physician.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Provides reasonable and prudent medical/surgical care, practices appropriate management, and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidenced based medicine.
+ Maintains confidentiality in regards to patients, staff and program matters at all times.
+ Consults with other staff or specialists to make appropriate referrals for more advanced care, as may be indicated.
+ Coordinates patient care with colleagues, nursing, front desk outreach, case management staff and other agencies as necessary.
+ Educates patients on dermatological disease management.
+ Completes charting of notes, forms and coding in a timely and efficient manner. Enters appropriate legible notations, documents encounters appropriately.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
+ A nurse practitioner must have an MSN degree and current CT RN/APRN licensure.
+ PA: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).  Requires a collaborative agreement with a Physician.
+ One (1) year of experience as a health care provider preferred; however, new graduates are welcome.
+ Ability to provide comprehensive, preventive, and therapeutic health care based on professional knowledge, clinic guidelines, standing orders, and specific health background of patients.
+ Professional knowledge of medical theory and practice.
+ Knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of acute and chronic patient/family problems.
+ Knowledge and management of principles and practices including optimum use of staff and all other available resources.
+ CPR certification required.
