The role
As a Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll provide vital technical support for mechanical and nuclear process plants, including pipework, steam and condensate systems, compressed air, potable water, and pressure systems.

 

In this role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing detailed engineering designs and specifications that are ready for implementation. You'll conduct thorough analyses of engineering systems using applicable design codes and industry standards, ensuring that all procedures, codes, standards, and relevant legislation are accurately applied to your work. You'll also be responsible for creating technical solutions and documentation that support the Senior Engineer and other stakeholders, both internally and externally. Additionally, you will:

 

Ensure appropriate review, verification, and approval of technical documentation is undertaken. Carry out technical and computational analysis of engineering systems. Develop detailed engineering designs and specifications suitable for implementation.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the onsite and 2 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Design Engineer

 

Solid experience in Mechanical and/or Nuclear Engineering. Familiarity with requirements engineering and/or systems engineering. Strong understanding of engineering design and safety principles. Knowledge of key industry regulations, such as the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations and the Pressure Equipment Directive, as well as relevant standards like British Standards and ASME process piping codes.

 

Qualifications for the Design Engineer

 

You should ideally have one of the following:

 

An engineering degree with relevant experience and proven capability. An HND/HNC in a relevant discipline with significant experience and proven capability. At minimum, an OND/ONC with relevant experience and capability, having completed structured development and working towards IEng or CEng registration with the Engineering Council.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
