Job Title: Design Engineer

Job Description

Designing, routing, testing, and material specifications for natural gas distribution mains of up to 30 inches in diameter. Utilize AutoCAD and GIS programs regularly while complying with industry codes and standards. Support multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines. Coordinate with various internal and external departments. Quality control of drawings, maintaining accuracy of drawing database. 5-10% of time: travel to field for site inspections throughout life of the project; support the Field Operations and Construction Operations teams by traveling throughout service territory performing field engineering tasks such as taking measurements, taking notes of equipment, observing project installation and commissioning.

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 36 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Naperville, Illinois and some days remote.

Work Environment

Natural gas distribution company serving more than two million customers in a service territory that encompasses most of the northern third of Illinois, excluding the city of Chicago. It has 32,000 miles (51,000 km) of pipelines. Located in Naperville, IL. Hours are flexible but generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The team works in office three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays, employees have the ability/choice to work from home. Candidate will have their own cubicle with their own computer. They will be working in a team environment under the supervision of engineers. It's a highly collaborative work environment. Candidate should have reliable form of transportation to travel to sites/projects. Will be reimbursed for mileage. Work environment is steady, stable, predictable and collaborative.
