Design Engineer
Job Title: Design EngineerJob Description We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with experience in the oil and gas, mining, and filtration industry. You will be responsible for designing large scale machines and fixtures, ensuring they meet the needs of the shop personnel and enhance the manufacturing process. Responsibilities + Work with shop personnel to design fixtures for holding parts or improving the manufacturing process. + Collaborate with shop personnel to understand their needs, sketch ideas, confirm feasibility, and design fixtures. + Assemble designed fixtures. + Respect and incorporate ideas from all team members, including those without formal degrees. Essential Skills + At least 3 years of design experience with an OEM or large scale manufacturing company. + Proficient with Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks. + Bachelor's degree in Engineering. + Mechanically inclined with hands-on experience building fixtures or similar projects. + Ability to work well with a team and respect diverse ideas. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with mechanical engineering, mechanical design, tooling, machine design, manufacturing engineering, and manufacturing design. + Ability to organize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. + Problem-solving skills with the initiative to forecast project needs. + Friendly and collaborative team player. Work Environment The work environment is a modern facility with a lot of glass to promote collaboration. The company operates in a niche business area and values a great personality and teamwork. The role involves working closely with shop personnel to design and assemble fixtures, ensuring ideas from all team members are considered. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $120000.00 Medical, Prescription, Vision: High Deductible Plan with Derrick Corporation fully funding the deductible through an HRA (Health Reimbursement Account). Once the deductible is met the payment goes to 80% (paid by insurance)/20% (paid by employee). We do offer a medical buyout. Dependent coverage up to the age of 26. Vision benefits are built into all medical plans. Eligibility first of the following month after 30 days of service. Dental: 2 teeth cleanings a year Orthodontia for dependents up to age 19, 50% (paid by insurance) up to $2,000 max. 65% (paid by insurance)/35% (paid by employee) payment on major services. Life insurance up to three times your annual salary with the first layer being funded by Derrick. FSA (Flexible Spending Account) used for out of pocket medical, dental, eyeglasses and eligible over- the-counter medicines. DCA (Dependent Care Account) used for child/daycare services. Profit Sharing and a 401k program with eligibility after three months. Maximum yearly deferral allowed by IRS guidelines. We do not match 401k because we have a discretionary Profit Share contribution yearly. 3 PTO days per year pro-rated based on hire date after 90-day probationary period; earned on August 1st, September 1st, and October 1st. 7 Sick/PTO days earned each calendar year (earned based on hours worked) 5 Vacations days during the first year (after 90-day probationary period), 10 during the 2-7 years, 15 during the 8-14 years, 20 during the 15-24 years, and 25 days after 25 years of service 90-day probationary period Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Buffalo,NY.
