Job Description
We are seeking a Design Engineer responsible for the development of product designs in a cross-functional team environment. This role ensures the accuracy and quality of 3D models and drawings developed as part of new product launches, product improvements, quality improvements, and maintenance of existing products. The Design Engineer also provides support to other departments including supply chain, manufacturing, sales, and customer service. You will work directly with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and coordinate with outside resources to ensure the completion of out-sourced PD&D projects to company standards. Products include electro-mechanical industrial and consumer tools and components. This role involves approximately 50% design work, with the remaining 50% dedicated to testing, designing fixtures, writing test reports, and recording data.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop product designs in a cross-functional team environment.Ensure the accuracy and quality of 3D models and drawings.Support new product launches, product improvements, quality improvements, and maintenance of existing products.Provide support to supply chain, manufacturing, sales, and customer service departments.Work directly with suppliers to ensure manufacturability.Coordinate with outside resources to complete out-sourced PD&D projects to company standards.Perform testing, design fixtures, write test reports, and record data.Essential SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).Experience with Adobe Illustrator.Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).Proficiency in drafting electrical/mechanical components and assemblies.Compliance with ASME Standard Y14.5 and relevant GD&T standards.Experience with SolidWorks.Additional Skills & QualificationsExcellent documentation, verbal, and written skills.Self-starter, able to work alone under minimal supervision.Effective interface with other functions within the business as well as suppliers.Associate's degree in design and drafting technology, mechanical design technology, or related field of study or 5 years of experience in mechanical or product design.Work Environment
This role involves working with technologies and equipment such as SolidWorks and Adobe Illustrator. You will be part of a cross-functional team, interfacing with various departments and suppliers. The work environment may include both office and manufacturing settings, requiring attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.06
