Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a Solidworks Jig, Fixture, and Tooling Design Engineer to join our team in Jackson, MI. In this role, you will spend the majority of your time designing various jigs, fixtures, tooling, and custom machines. Our machines are primarily ergonomic assist machines, including trim ovens, assembly and test equipment, modular bases, overhead torque arms, structures, conveyor systems, plastic degaters, testers, and robotics. You will also be involved in detailing, sketches, rough calculations, and fieldwork to gather application information.

ResponsibilitiesDesign various jigs, fixtures, tooling, and custom machines using Solidworks.Make changes to existing custom machines.Detail designs as needed.Create sketches and perform rough calculations.Gather information in the field for application purposes.Collaborate with controls team, engineers, sales, and customers to discuss design issues and status.Essential Skills5+ years of experience with jig, fixture, tooling, and machine design.Proficiency in Solidworks.Strong ability to work through designs quickly.Excellent communication skills.Experience interacting with controls team, engineers, sales, and customers.Additional Skills & QualificationsCSWA (Certified Solidworks Associate) or CSWP (Certified Solidworks Professional) certifications.Work Environment

Our team operates in a smaller shop with 25-30 team members, fostering a family-oriented and team-centric environment. Although the design room is not state-of-the-art, we provide the necessary tools for success. The facility, located in a 30+ year old building in Jackson, MI, is kept clean inside, and the staff is friendly and hardworking. The office area and CAD department overlook the manufacturing floor. Minimal travel is required, primarily within Southeast Michigan. Candidates should be willing to get hands dirty as needed and thrive in a high-paced, high-demand environment with quick product turnover. Independence and the ability to work on your feet for extended periods are essential in this role.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00
