For more information, visit www.progressrail.com and follow @Progress_Rail on Twitter and YouTube. **Education / Training:** The ideal candidate will possess: • Preferred: Minimum 4 year, BS Mechanical or Civil Engineering degree; • Will consider an Associate’s degree in related Engineering field, or its equivalent in a combination of formal education and direct work experience **Job Title:** Design Engineer **City:** Cleveland **Key Job Elements:** • Design special trackwork for a multitude of major customers which will involve developing detailed drawings of special railroad track components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor 3D software and occasionally AuoCAD 2D software • Analyze and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and purchase orders • Create project bills of material leveraging the ERP system (Infor LN) • Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to create and maintain department related spreadsheets and documents including but not limited to Engineering Change Notices, calculations, project status updates and reports • Collaborate with other department Engineers, on site and at other locations, to help ensure all project requirements and deadlines are met. • Interface with customers and vendors to ensure our products meet the design and material specifications • Communicate and collaborate with all departments and all levels of the organization • Support production, quality and operations when needed and regularly work in partnership to resolve any issues that arise • Initiate and/or support continuous improvement projects within department as well as within the company as a whole • Position will report to Engineering Supervisor • Some travel to customer sites may be required as experience level increases in position. **Qualifications and Experience:** • Must be able to efficiently operate 2D and 3D CAD, Microsoft Office software; Adobe Acrobat; • Must possess Geometry and Trigonometry math skills; • The ability to use gauges, tape measures, calipers, etc.; • Experience working with standards (ANSI, SAE, AREMA, etc.) a plus • General knowledge of how a manufacturing plant functions is a plus; • General knowledge of metals including strength of steel and iron materials; patterns and castings; welding is a plus; • The ability to multi-task different requests throughout the week; • The ability take direction and work as an integrated team member; • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. **EEO:** Equal Opportunity Employer – Race/Color/Sex/Religion/National Origin/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Vets/Disabilities **Benefits:** Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.
