Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a demonstrable ability to plan and execute engineering product development initiatives, generate innovative concepts, and create robust mechanical system designs in a multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
+ Plan and execute engineering product development initiatives.
+ Generate innovative concepts and robust mechanical system designs.
+ Work with sheet metal, machined components, and molded plastics or other soft polymers.
+ Apply knowledge of standard metal and plastic machining, forming, and molding methods.
+ Utilize knowledge of electromechanical actuators and sensors.
+ Generate prints and reports in accordance with standard quality management systems.
+ Conduct material characterization, selection, and compatibility assessments.
+ Manage all aspects of Configuration Management including the engineering change process, change control board, drawing formatting/release, part number creation, part revision sequence, and bills of materials.
+ Participate in material review board processes including documentation, control of nonconforming product, assessment, and disposition.
+ Perform hands-on 3D CAD design and utilize FEA software packages.
+ Collaborate with suppliers, teammates, and interdisciplinary internal engineering resources including Electrical, Biomedical, and Software engineers.
Essential Skills
+ SolidWorks design experience.
+ 3 to 10 years of engineering experience in the development of high-reliability medical, aerospace, or transportation products.
+ Knowledge of tolerance stack-up and manufacturability.
+ Experience with sheet metal, machined components, and molded plastics.
+ Knowledge of electromechanical actuators and sensors.
+ Experience generating prints and reports in accordance with standard quality management systems.
+ Experience with material characterization, selection, and compatibility assessment.
+ Experience with Configuration Management, including engineering change processes and material review board processes.
+ Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design and FEA software packages.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
+ Experience with tooling, molding, or fixture design.
+ Knowledge of active and passive mechanisms, chassis structure, electromechanical systems, electrical and pneumatic actuators, sensors, power integration, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, control systems, EMI, shock, vibration, water, dust, and corrosion resistance tests.
Work Environment
You will be working in a Medical Device manufacturing company located in Saugerties, NY. The engineering team consists of 10 to 15 people, and the setting is business casual. The company offers accrued time-off and 6 paid holidays, totaling 11+ paid days off
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $45.67/hr.
