Design Engineering Intern

A Design Engineering Intern position is currently available at Belcan in Peoria, IL. This job is a full-time position with an expected duration of approximately 3 months. Matching candidates will have some exposure to product component or system design through applicable course and project work. Great matching candidates will have demonstrable engineering experience through past co-op or intern positions. In this job, you will support multiple projects with responsibility for supporting the movement of design evaluations from request to completion. The incumbent will be required to communicate effectively with team members and management, utilizing verbal skills as well as written documents including plans, reports, and presentations.
Design Engineering Intern job duties:
* Perform activities that include support for the following: mechanical design and definition, hand calculations, engineering documentation composition, and others, as required.
* Implement product definition criteria in accordance with requirements for commercial attributes associated with producibility/manufacturability of a product.
* Manage and maintain tasks in priority status, as assigned by management.
* Maintain, report, and communicate task status and progress to both internal team management.
* Organize and maintain existing engineering records.
* Perform other such duties, as required.
* Due to the nature of the work performed, US Citizenship is REQUIRED.
Qualifications:
* Ability and desire to quickly learn new skills is a must.
* Engineering process exposure through previous co-op or internship experiences
* Ability to write technical reports and correspondence including customer reports.
* Ability to read part prints and interpret GD&T is highly desired.
* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
* Ability to contribute in a team environment.
* Any working knowledge of aerospace systems, especially power generation systems, is a major differentiator.
Compensation:
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a pay rate of $20/hour however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
