Summary: Seeking a Design Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for designing, analyzing, and simulating our high-altitude platform.

Requirements:

Demonstrated engineering capability and understanding of fundamental principles.

Proven leadership in a fast-paced environment with competing resources and shifting priorities.

Prior experience bringing a deliverable to completion while meeting schedule and budget targets.

Experience successfully managing a team.

Collaboration with Human Resources regarding hiring, evaluating employee performance, addressing performance issues, training and development and terminations.

Strong decision making, attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

Extensive experience with the design of flight hardware.

Experience working in a flight test environment.

Ability to perform and review finite element analyses (stress and thermal).

Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.

Familiarity with the SolidWorks family of software.

Ability to review models and drawings for accuracy.

Familiarity with flight simulators.

Familiarity with the design of composite structures.

Previous experience working for a start-up company.

Familiarity with lighter than air vehicles.

Previous experience successfully managing technical projects.

Responsibilities:

-The Design Engineering Manager will manage the team responsible for designing, analyzing, and simulating our high-altitude platform.

-The Systems Lead will keep the team on track and motivated to meet deliverables while training and coaching staff, communicating expectations, resolving conflict and appraising performance.

Education:

-A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (Mechanical or Aeronautical preferred).

-A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.

-A minimum of 2 years management experience.
